History of the Olympic Games

The history of mass sporting events, dates back centuries, where the main examples are found in ancient Greece.

In its major cities such as Corinth, Delphi or Argolis, were organized athletic events in honor of the gods, however, the most important were those who were held in honor of the god Zeus in the holy city of Olympia every four years during the summer.

Thus, the Olympics were born in 776 BC, and for nearly three thousand years were the competency framework in the participating athletes from all over Greece and the peace which reigned ever since the war even if there were time games were made, imposing a truce between the warring parties not to interfere in the conduct of the Games.
